Chase made Colorguard!!

I just wanted to give you all a quick update! Chase made the color guard at Newnan High School for her 9th grade year...She starts practice next week and she is so thrilled to be a part of the Marching Band and follow in her brothers footsteps! Brian was a member of the East Coweta High School Marching Band all 4 years playing the Tuba, Nathan joined him for 1 year also playing the Tuba, but found that Marching band was not for him! Matthew then played the Tuba and the Baritone all 4 years of his time in high school for the Northgate High School Marching Vikings and now Chase is continuing with this tradition by Marching in the Color guard for the Newnan High School Marching Cats! I am so proud of Chase, she has wanted to be part of the Marching Band ever since she was a little girl and saw Matthew perform! Although as she became involved in cheer leading this past year at Smokey Rd, she had decided to pursue cheer leading and she gave it her all, she was at tryouts the whole week, but unfortunately she did not make the cheer leading team, but that did not defeat her, she went on and tried out for color guard and made the team, and she couldn't be more thrilled! Sorry Tara...still no pictures...LOL! We have been on vacation all week with limited Internet access, but I promise to do some catch up and get pictures from Chase's Bday party, Mother's day, and our vacation uploaded soon! Also I will update you all on our Foster parenting classes!

Chase is 14!

Chase turned 14 this past Friday, April 23rd. It's so unbelievable to make that statement! I remember the details of my pregnancy and her birth like it all happened yesterday. It definitely doesn't seem like she could be 14 years old! Tommy and I thank God everyday for Chase, she has brought so much joy to our life! And though I can't believe that Chase is 14 years old, I also can't imagine my life without her! She has grown into an incredible young woman, she is so kind and compassionate, she really has such a sweet spirit about her! Chase has always been very mature for her age, she has wisdom far beyond her years! I am so grateful to be her Mom!

We have gone to Jump2it (a jump zone) in Peachtree City with our grandkids several times, and one time while we were there I noticed that they did Teen Parties, so I looked into it and asked Chase how she would like to have her birthday party there and at first she thought I was crazy, but the more she thought about it the more she saw the possibility for an AWESOME birthday party!!

Chase was able to invite 25 friends to her party, OK...keep in mind this is a place with every kind of blow up slide, jump, obstacle course thing you could possibly think of all in this huge space!! So we have 25 (actually 23 out of 25 invited showed up) so we had 23 teenagers in this huge room with all these huge blow up slides and blow up balls and they had a disco ball with all the lights turned out with Chase's music blasting thru the place!! Sounds crazy right?? It was the BEST party we have ever had!! The kids ran around and played for like an hour and a half while Tommy, my brother, Robert, his girlfriend, Nancy, and I sat at a table in the peace and quiet and talked!! The staff at Jump2it handled EVERYTHING!! Then we spent an hour in the "party room" where they even cut the cake and served it...not too mention they cleaned up the mess!! Then Chase got to sit in a huge blow up "throne" to open her presents and the staff handled all that as well...writing down who gave Chase what...Now if they just wrote the thank you notes!! LOL!

Chase had a great birthday, everyone had loads of fun, and it was a stress free party for Tommy and I!! This was the BEST BIRTHDAY ever!!

Our oldest grandson, Billy had his birthday party @ Jump2it the next day! He was so cute...His dad (Chase's brother) had already told him that Chase was only having teenagers at her party, so when we went out to eat with them for Chase's birthday before the party...Billy told Chase that her party was just for Teens, but his party was rated "E" for everyone!! Billy turned 5 on April 22nd...He is too funny! He's so much like his daddy was at age 5!

Dear Chase, I hope you will always know how much your daddy and I love you, we are so thankful to be your parents, you are exactly the little girl that daddy and I prayed for! And we thank God everyday for the honor and privilege to be your parents!
We love you Chase with all our hearts ~ Mom & Daddy

Resurrection Day!

We have had a wonderful Easter weekend! I was unable to attend our Easter celebration at the church on Saturday, but from what I hear it was a great time for everyone!! And it was a huge success in more ways than one! We had a great turn out of people for all the events we had going on as well as one young man, who approached our Student Pastor and wanted to know more about Jesus! Adam was able to present the gospel to him and he trusted Christ as his Lord and Savior!! And if that wasn't enough cause for celebration...We had a wonderful Communion Sunrise service on Sunday followed by breakfast and some great fellowship...We all went to Sunday school and came back together for our regular morning worship!! The presence of the Lord was really felt at LBC this morning! Thank you Lord for a Pastor (my hubby) who is senstive to the leading of the Holy Spirit! As Tommy was preparing for his first Easter service as a Pastor, he was lead to preach a more gospel presentation and because Tommy allowed the Holy Spirit to lead him as a result one man came forward during the invitation and trusted Christ as his Savior and Lord! So 2 new believers this weekend! Praise the Lord!! Now that is the way to celebrate Easter!! We also know of at least one other person the Holy Spirit is dealing with and we are praying that He will continue to draw him and that Tommy will have an opportunity to talk with him!! God is so good!!

Here a few of my favorite pictures of us from this wonderful Easter morning!

Happy Resurrection Day!! From the Worthey's

Hannah and Kaleb

This past week we were able to spend some quality time with our son Matthew and his wife Sarah's kids! They were both going to be out of town, and Sarah had asked me about coming to Wilmington and spending the week there to watch the kids! And of course I jumped at the chance to spend some time with the grandkids, however when I found out that Hannah was on Spring Break I decided to bring the kids home with me, so that they could spend sometime with the rest of the family as well! So I flew to Wilmington on Tuesday the 23rd, spent a great day hanging out with Sarah and the kids, then Thursday morning we took Sarah to the airport to catch her flight and the kids and I headed out on our road trip to Georgia...The kids were so good, between stopping to eat and potty breaks it took us alittle over 8 hours, but they were so good and it was a fun time! We tried to pack as much in as we could because I was going to have to drive them back home the next Thursday, April 1st! The first day we mostly hung out at the house all trying to rest up from the road trip, then over the weekend the kids went to Sarah's family over night so that they could see them while they were in GA as well! We picked the kids up on Sunday afternoon, and went to church...the kids were putting on a puppet show that evening and I thought Hannah and Kaleb would enjoy that! Hannah did, but Kaleb was soon running around the sanctuary, so we decided to head out to the playground! They played good and hard and went straight to bed after church!
Monday we had some errands to do, but the kiddos were so good we treated them to Burger King and about an hour on the playset there! After we picked Chase up from school and then tryouts...it was time for dinner, bath, and bed!! Tuesday was a big day...since the kids were so good tagging along on my errands I took them to the Newnan Utilities Park...it's the big park in Newnan with every kind of swinging and climbing outside play stuff you can think of!! We spent about 2 hours out there and the kids had a blast!! Needless to say they were going to bed every night with no arguments and they were both sleeping late!! :) Tuesday evening we had a little birthday celebration for Hannah, she turned 7 years old on Saturday, April 3rd and since she wouldn't be here that day...we celebrated with her while we could!! Granddaddy went and got an ice cream cake and balloons while we were at the park...and Aunt Chase distracted Hannah while we decorated!! Wednesday was also a special day...Especially for me (Unfortunately for Tommy, he had a terrible toothache and wasn't able to go with us) First we met up with Hester, Jacob, Kinley, and Elyn at Chick fila for lunch, then we headed to an outdoor park in Peachtree City for about an hour or so, then we met Brian, Gerie, and Billy at Jump2it for some fun with all the Worthey cousins!! :) It was so much fun to see all the grandkids playing together, not to mention this was the first time that we had all six of them together since Elyn was born!!

Here's a slideshow of our week with Hannah and Kaleb...Thanks Matthew and Sarah for letting us spend this time with them!!

Just alittle side note...when we got home on Thursday night
...Kaleb wanted Mimi!!
Not Daddy, not Mommy...only Mimi!! LOL!!
Yes...I was loving every minute of that while it lasted!! :)

Foster Care

Many of you may know that Tommy and I were foster parents here in GA from 1999-2002! We loved being foster parents and got such a blessing from the over 25 children that were in and out of our home during the 3 years that we were with DFACS as foster parents! Tommy and I both felt this was a ministry that we did as a family, even when Chase was still so young, she knew that we were taking care of those children because for whatever reason their parents couldn't and that sense of obligation to those children has stayed with her! So as a family we have decided to jump back into foster care! Tommy and I will start the IMPACT classes on April 6th...We attend 2 classes per week, every Tuesday and Thursday thru April 22nd...We will also have much paperwork to fill out and physicals to take as well as home studies done! Please pray for us as we go thru this process! We are not wealthy by any means, but we are rich in love and family and we fill this will be an extension of our ministry at the church. We will love these little ones if only for a little while and my prayer is that if it's only for a week, or a month, or God willing more...that they will know they were part of a family and they are loved!
These verses have always spoke to me and they are the driving force behind why I feel so passionate that we be involved in the foster care program!

Matthew 25:35-40(New American Standard Bible)

35'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;

36naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'

37"Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink?

38'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?

39'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'

40"The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'

He's Too Sexy for His Suit!!

I have been wanting to get Tommy at least one new suit since he graduated from Southeastern, but there always seemed to be things he wanted or needed more! Our friend and Pastor in Wake Forest, Jamie Dew suggested that I get Tommy a suit from Jos. A. Banks. This is where he buys his suits and has been very happy with them and as our Wake Forest friends can attest to Jamie is a very sharp dresser!! So obviously I took his advice and this past Christmas Chase and I gave Tommy a gift card to Jos. A. Banks! It just so happened they were having a great deal on suits, but my hubby wanted to wait and lose some weight before he got any new suits, so we waited...Then for his birthday the church gave him a love offering, so he decided since he had this money and the gift cards and since he hadn't lost any weight, the next sale they had he was going to get a suit! We finally went and he got 2 suits, 2 very nice dress shirts, suspenders, and a new tie! He is too sexy!!

Here he is today in one of his new suits!! Thanks Jamie for your suggestion!
Tommy almost looks as nice as you in the pulpit now!! LOL!

By the way...It's hard to tell in these pics, but this is a Brown "Window pane" Executive suit, and he has on his blue Travelers shirt with his suspenders! The Tie is not his new one he is saving the new one for Easter!!

Aunt Chase and "Aunt" Mary meet Elyn Grace

We went to Cumming this past Friday to visit with Nathan, Hester, and the grandkids! Since Chase was in school when Elyn Grace was born this was her first time to meet her!! Elyn was 1 week old on Friday...Chase and Mary both fell in love with Elyn Grace at first sight! We had a great visit playing with Jacob and Kinley and loving on Elyn, when we could get her away from Aunt Chase and Mary!!

High School Registration!

Today is a bittersweet day for me! Chase is so excited, she has been counting down the days for high school registration... Teachers from Newnan High School will be coming to her middle school today to talk to them about the different classes they will be taking as well as what to expect from high school life! Then tonight Tommy and I join her at a special parent's night and we will get her teacher recommendations and then we make decision as to what classes will be best for Chase in her Freshman year of high school! I just can't believe my baby girl is going to be in high school!! In just a short few months she will be walking the halls at the same high school I attended! I am so proud of Chase and all she has accomplished thus far in her school career, she is a very smart girl and she puts much effort into the work she does and I couldn't be more proud of her!! It just seems like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital in her pretty pink bonnet!! They grow up so fast!!

Please pray for Chase that she will remain the wonderful young lady she is today!! Pray that she will continue to put God first in her life and that she will continue to be a bold witness for Him! :) And pray for Tommy and I that we will be able to handle our baby going to high school!! LOL!

Chase's Poems and Musical Instrument Project

We went to Expo night at Chase's school this past Tuesday night February 23rd. It was a night that all the parents could come in at their own pace and see different things the students have been doing academically as well as hearing the chorus and band both perform! Tommy and I were going to obviously support Chase and to hear her sing in the chorus! But we came away with alot more than just a chorus concert! As we talked with each of Chase's teachers they bragged on what a great student Chase is and how dedicated she is to her work, not that this came as a big surprise to us, but it is so nice to hear! (As a side note...We were at jump2it celebrating Jacob's birthday over winter break and ran into a teacher of Chase's from last school year and he made a point to come up to me and Tommy and tell us that he thinks Chase is amazing and that we have a great kid! I was so overwhelmed...I mean I know I have a great kid, but it's so nice when other people see that in your child as well!) Anyway, 2 special projects we got to see at Expo night was Chase's poem book from Literature class and her musical instrument from Science class...I was really blown away by Chase's poems...I had no idea that she could write as well as she does! Her poems were amazing! So I wanted to share them with you as well as her teachers comments about each poem...I hope you enjoy them as much as I did! :)

What will people say?

My hair is blonde like the wheat growing in the plains
My eyes are blue like the ocean

My heart is sad when people are mean

Unforgettable Memories
by: Chase Worthey

Moving away, such a sad day
I missed my house, my friends, my family
It was so different, I was like a lost child in the night
Honestly I was depressed, but I held my head high!
My parents said they felt the same, but they wouldn't understand my pain.
I was sad there, but after I would think about it, I mean REALLY think about it
I was being selfish, and I wasn't acting myself. Now that I'm back home, where I belong, I look back on my memories and smile at the fun times and I forget the bad memories.

Yellow Flowers
by: Chase Worthey

...is born in it's own unique way, glowing throughout the world
...makes me feel so warm and happy and joyous
...gets mad when the clouds try to cover it's brightness
...looks like a great ball of fire
...is my friend because it is nice and playful
...smells like a warm vanilla candle lit all day
...behaves like an untamed dog, jumping around everywhere
...knows that it can be uplifting and happy
...tastes like vanilla, peppermint, or cotton candy
...is happy when the sun shines down on it
...lives on in peoples' lives when joyous moments occur
...sounds like the great ocean waves crashing on the shore
...is sad when people are cruel and full of hate
...dies when people's spirits are down
(Teachers comments - 98% excellent - your words in this poem are wonderful!)

Happiness
by: Chase Worthey

Happiness is a good friend
Someone you can count on
Through thick and thin
Friends make you laugh
When you are feeling blue
They help you make decisions
When you don't know what to do

Happiness is a small child
Hugging your neck
Happiness is lying in the sun
Out on the deck
Getting a tan from the big, bright sun
Listening to the birds sing
Like they're having such fun

Happiness is summer
When school is all through
Sleeping late in the morning
Then going to the pool
Going out of town
Is so much fun
It gives me a chance to see everyone
Happiness is music
I love to dance and sing
Expressing myself
What joy it brings
I wish that everyone
Could feel the happiness I feel
Because it is so real
(Teacher comments - 100% excellent)

Chase's teacher also made a comment on the entire poem book it read-

Chase- You truly have the gift of words. I could not sit and try to pick the poem I liked the best because you did a good job on all your poems! I love how you personlized your poems with pictures.

Super Work!! - Mrs. Archibald

As I mentioned Chase also did a homemade musical instrument project for Science...Chase choose to make Bottle pipes! Here are a few pictures of that project!

Just in case you can't tell the two brown bottles are Root Beer bottles and the middle bottle is a Sobe Energy drink...Just for clarification!! LOL!

We are very proud of Chase and all the effort she puts into her school work!!

Great job Chase!!

Chase and Sierra

In November I took Chase and Sierra, my niece (she is my brother's daughter) to have their pictures made for my Dad's 74th birthday present! The pictures all turned out so great! I wanted to share them!! I should also say for Chase's sake! They are wearing Alabama clothing because my dad is a huge Alabama fan!

Chase loves the Georgia Bulldogs, but she was willing to wear Alabama for her Poppa! :)
My brother is a huge Alabama fan as well, so Sierra already had clothes!

The pictures all turned out really good!! And my dad loved his birthday present!!

Our First Blog for 2010

I can't believe it's already February 2nd and I am just now writing my first blog of the new year! I have been slack to say the least in keeping up my blog for the last several months! I could give you a list of excuses, but I am sure you would rather here about our updates instead! So...let me try and catch you up on things that have been going on with the Worthey's!

In December Tommy was able to go into the baptismal pool for the first time as a Pastor! He was so excited to baptize four (4) new believers on Sunday, December 13, 2009.
December flew by for us this year (I will post a slideshow of our Christmas pictures soon!) and before we knew it, 2010 was here...We had a great time celebrating the New Year with Chase and Mary-Caitlin...We watched movies, played games, then watched the peach drop as we toasted the New Year with Sparkling grape juice!! Then about 12:10...Tommy and I went to bed!! LOL! :)
January was a busy, but fun month for us! Matthew and his family have been transferred with the US Coast Guard from Texas to Wilmington, NC, so on their way to their new home they were able to stop and spend almost 2 weeks with us! We had such a great time visiting with Matthew and Sarah and playing with, and spoiling the grandkids!! Tommy got a special treat during their time here. As many of you already know our granddaughter Hannah accepted Christ as her Savior back at the end of September, so while they were here Pastor Tommy aka Granddaddy was able to baptize Hannah!! What a great joy, honor, and privilege for Tommy to baptize our granddaughter! Tommy is looking forward to baptizing each and everyone of our grandchildren as they reach that age of accountability and turn their hearts over to Jesus!! Our church voted in Adam Cain as our Pastor of Students in December and Tommy had the privilege of ordaining Adam into the Ministry of the Gospel on January 24th. Adam's home church hosted the event and since our church called Adam, Tommy lead the service! It was a special time for Adam and his family as well as both churches!!

We also had "Old Fashion Day" at our church during the morning service on January 24th...Rev. D.L. Moody brought the message that day!! No I am not kidding you D.L. Moody was at our service that morning!! Of course not the D.L. Moody who lived in the 1800's!! Preacher Moody is our former Pastor and dear friend! It was a great time of fellowship...the men came dressed in their overalls and bow ties and the woman were in their bonnets!! It was a great service!!

Here is a picture of some of the folks who dressed out for "old fashion day"

January is also Tommy's birthday month! January 31st Tommy turned 54 years old!! We are so thankful for Tommy and all he means to our family! Tommy is a wonderful husband, father, and granddaddy and we all thank God everyday for him! We started celebrating Tommy's birthday on Saturday! Chase, Mary-Caitlin, and I took Tommy to his favorite restuarant Outback Steakhouse! First thing Sunday morning Mrs. Ira brought Tommy his favorite gift a homemade Banana pudding!! Brian, Gerie, and Billy came to church on Sunday and took Tommy and I to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate his birthday and then afterwards Nathan, Hester, Jacob, and Kinley all joined us at the house for birthday cake!! (Of course Tommy was not sharing his Banana pudding!!) Then after church Sunday night we met our good friends Curtis and Ann at our usual Sunday night spot La Parilla for a little birthday celebrating!! All in all I think Tommy had a great day!! :)
Those are all the updates I can think of at this time!! I talked alot about Tommy, I guess January centered around Tommy more than I realized!! Chase, Mary and I are still here and all doing well!! Chase and Mary both got new haircuts this past weekend...side bangs!! And I learned how and started making my own laundry detergent this past month!! I will post about that soon!!
I hope you all forgive me for not updating regularly...I promise to get back into the habit of keeping my blog updated!! I really do love blogging!! :)
