Happy Halloween!

Chase has not been trick or treating since our last Halloween in Wake Forest, I told her then, that once she turned 13 that was the end! It was sad to see that fun part of Halloween be over, but I just think that teenagers shouldn't be out trick or treating...that's just me! Anyway, I never really thought about the fact that Chase could still dress up for Fall Festivals or a friend's party (a teenager's life is always so busy) So anyway last year at our Fall Festival, Chase ran the face painting booth and dressed as a cheerleader!

This year we had a wonderful Fall Festival, I will blog about that as soon as I bum some pictures off some people from church (I left my memory card in the computer at home) Anyway, our Fall Festival was a huge success and I will give you all the details about that as soon as I get pictures!! Chase was unable to go because she had her final band competition of the season (Newnan High placed 3rd for overall band and Colorguard placed 1st! Way to go Chase!!)

However, Chase was able to attend the Fall Festival at the First Baptist Church in Newnan tonight with her friend Jewel, they both went dressed as Nerds!! I think this is one of Chase's best costumes!! She was hilarious!! Is it bad that we had everything already here at our house that she needed to dress as a nerd??

It's amazing how she can still look so pretty and so nerdy at the same time! :)

Jacob ~ Growing Up So Fast!

A week or so ago, I wrote a post about my husband, about how much I love and respect him, I hope that I show him everyday that I respect and love him, but I also wanted to honor him, to let our children and grandchildren know how much he means to me and to our entire family! I had planned on blogging about each child and grandchild in birth order! Then Hester sent me a picture over text yesterday and I just had to blog about this! So I'm sorry Brian...Jacob's blog is next!! LOL! :)

Jacob is Nathan and Hester's oldest child and our grandson, Jacob just turned 4 in March! He reminds me of his dad so much at that age, Jacob has the kindest heart, he loves his sisters and he is such a good big brother! Jacob is so smart, he just started going to preschool 3 days a week this fall and I think he's about ready for 5th grade! Of course that is more to due with his mom than the preschool. Hester is a great mom...Jacob is very inquisitive and Hester patiently answers all his questions and he soaks it all in, his new passion right now are the US Presidents! Jacob knows all 44 of them and can give you facts on almost all of them! He can tell you that Bill Clinton is from Arkansas, that George Bush, and George W. Bush are from Texas, He knows which Presidents were assassinated and who assassinated them...Funny side note he got a splinter the other day and Hester told him she needed to get it out so it wouldn't get infected and he said "If it gets infected will I die like President Garfield" Yes, my 4 year old grandson knows that although President Garfield was shot, it was not the shot that killed him, but that he developed an infection and died from the infection! I love to hear Jacob give me facts about the Presidents, and he will quickly tell you that Abraham Lincoln is his favorite!!

As I mentioned at the beginning Hester sent me a picture via text last night, Jacob was writing his name all by himself and not just his first name, but first and last!! I was so impressed...I just had to share about Jacob today!!

Jacob, I hope one day you will be looking at Mimi's blog and see this post especially for you and that you will know how proud I am of you, not just because you can write your name at 4 or because of your knowledge of the Presidents (although I am very proud of those things), but I want you to know that I am proud of you for who you are, I love to see you hold and kiss on Elyn, and though sometimes Kinley takes your toys or bothers your things I love how you love her and you won't let Granddaddy take her home!! :) I love watching you play baseball like your daddy and I love to see you playing Batman or one of your other super heroes, of course to me you are my super hero!! You have such a compassionate, caring heart and Mimi knows you are going to do great things!

My prayer for you is that you love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind and that you grow in wisdom and knowledge and you grow to love and serve Him! I love you Jacob with all my heart and I count it a privilege to be your Mimi!!

Research Study

I think most people that know me know that I have Rosacea...Rosacea is a chronic condition characterized by facial redness. It typically begins as redness on the central face across the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. Unless it affects the eyes, it is usually a harmless cosmetic condition. Treatment, if wanted, usually involves topical medications to reduce inflammation. I have had this condition for about 15 years now, I saw a dermatologist for it and tried several different treatments, but nothing ever seemed to really help, so I have just left it somewhat untreated...I clean my face, and use make-up for more sensitive skin and things like that, but I haven't used prescription medication for my Rosacea in years!

Then last week Tommy happened to find an ad in the Coweta Shopper, a small local paper, advertising a clinical research study for Rosacea, particularily the redness, so I called and got an appointment and I was so excited to find out that I was accepted into the study because not only do I get my Rosacea treated for the next 10 to 12 weeks, but they also pay me for my time...I do have to spend 3 days every 2 weeks at the office for 12 to 14 hours, but it is so worth it, I went this past Thursday for my first 14hr visit and I felt like I was having a spa day...they fed us breakfast, lunch and dinner, they provided snacks, they had movies, and games, and puzzles! And the absolute best part is one of the RN's is also a massage therapist, and she gave us foot, and hand massages, and I took a nice nap after that!! I told Tommy I felt like I should have paid them!! I haven't had such a relaxing day with people waiting on me like that since Tommy and I went on our last cruise 11 years ago!! :)

I am very excited about this study, I am hoping that it helps my redness, and I am excited about getting to do something extra special with the compensation money!! I'll let you know what we decide to do!! :) Please pray that I don't have any adverse side effects and that I will be able to stay with the study until the end!!

Today is Husband Day!!

For those of you who have Facebook accounts...You know that alot of people will have their status set as "this week is Husband week, so if you have a husband that is always there for you...and so on" and then there is daughter week, and son week...actually now that I think about it I don't think I have ever seen a wife week!?! hmmmm!!


Anyway, I decided to take that same concept to my blog post! I won't do a whole week on just my husband, although I could! I will limit the post to just the day! So anyway I decided to start with Husband day!!



Tommy is my husband of almost 16 years! I love and respect Tommy more than any man I have ever known and I count it a privilege to be his wife! I know most of the people who read my blog know Tommy and you probably already know alot of what I am going to tell you about him, but this is more for Tommy than for you (Sorry)

Here are just a few reasons why I respect you:

• I respect your love for the Lord


• I respect that you are a Man after God's Own Heart


• I respect that you love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and strength


• I respect you for being the Spiritual leader in our home, giving our boys a wonderful example of a Christian husband, and father, and showing our daughter first hand, how a husband should love his wife!


• I respect how you work every day to provide for our family, and I am so thankful for all that you do to provide a way for me to be a stay at home mom!


• I respect your desire to protect me and our family


• I respect you for your commitment to our family, I know the bills weigh on you at times, and I admire you for your commitment!


• I respect your sense of humor, how you always make me laugh!


• I respect that you are the same man when you stand behind the pulpit that you are at home!


• I respect your love for Luthersville Baptist Church, and the people of the church


• I respect your desire to see lost people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ

For all these reasons and so many more I honor you today, Tommy! I thank God for you, and I thank God that He sought fit to make me your wife! I love you with all my heart!

Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband. (Eph. 5:33 NASB)

Recycling!

While in Wake Forest, Chase attended Heritage Middle School, she was placed in Mr.Yost's 7th grade Science class, until that time Chase was not that interested in science, but Mr. Yost made science fun! Chase joined the science club at Heritage known as Roots and Shoots! Chase began to have a real love for the earth and a passion for recycling! She would drive us crazy, everything had to be recycled and she only wanted to buy things that had been recycled! Mr.Yost definitely had a big impact on Chase that year because of Mr.Yost Chase began to excel in science and now that she is a freshman in high school, she is in Advanced Biology, where she is fortunate to have another teacher who is passionate about recycling, so much in fact, she gives them an opportunity to earn extra credit in her class by taking her recycling to one of the area recycling centers! Sounds easy enough (and it is easy), but only one student out of all her classes has taken her up on the offer! You guessed it!! Chase! She has actually taken Ms. Kee's recycling twice so far this year, and she earned extra credit both times!! All Chase has to do is bring home Ms. Kee's recycling, we take it to the recycling center and make Chase's picture there and she earns her extra credit!! So easy!! =)

Foster Care Update

I have had several people asking me about how the process was going with becoming foster parents or if we have any kids yet, so I thought it best to update, so everyone knows what we know!

• We have completed all our paperwork and our home study has been done!
• We still have no kids yet because our home is not offically "open" for children yet!
• I have been emailing about once a week for the past couple of weeks to get status updates!
• Now we do the hardest part....WAIT!!

The head case manager for Coweta/Meriwether counties did our home study and she did tell me last week, that she had been in alot of meetings the past two weeks, but that they were working diligently to get our home approved for children, so for now that's our update! We wait...

Our Reason to Celebrate September 11th

September 11, 2001 was a horrific day for America, and even after 9 years it still seems so unbelievable that an attack of that magnitude happened in our country! We, like so many people will never forget where we were on that day or what we were doing when the attacks happened!

And as horrible as that day 9 years ago was, we have reason to celebrate 9/11 in the Worthey family...September 11th is no longer just a day of tragedy in our family, Kinley Kate Worthey was born 3 years ago today on September 11, 2007 and she has given us reason to celebrate this day!! Kinley is our precious granddaughter, she is Nathan & Hester's daughter! Kinley is such a joy to be around, she is so funny and enjoys making people laugh, she hates to wear clothes, and most of the time when she is home she is more than likely not wearing any!! LOL! Kinley is very smart and thinks she can do everything her big brother Jacob can do, and usually at least tries! Kinley is a wonderful addition to our family and we thank God for her, our prayer for Kinley is like with all our grandchildren, we pray that she will grow in grace and knowledge and that one day she will accept Jesus as her Savior and Lord, and that she will spend the rest of her life serving Him!

Labor Day Weekend 2010

Labor day weekend was alot of fun this year, we were able to go to the Power's Crossroads Festival, we haven't been since before we moved to Wake Forest, so it was a real treat for us to go! Chase has not been since she was a little, little girl, so she really had a great time!

For my NC friends who may not know about Power's Crossroads Festival, it's a HUGE festival that comes to Newnan every Labor Day weekend, for the past 40 years and it show cases, arts & crafts, food from all kinds of vendors like church groups, civic groups, or whoever, they also have jewerly, and bands come into sing, all 3 of the high school bands in Newnan perform each day, as well as singers, and cloggers, they also have blow up slides, & train rides for the kids, as well as a big 4-H group with chickens and everything...it's a great time!

Tommy bought me this ring while we were at Power's it is very similar to a ring that he bought me when I was a teenager, they were very popular then and all the girls had one! It is sterling silver and was a bargin at $15

Happy, Happy Birthday, Kaleb!

Happy 3rd Birthday Kaleb!

Today is our youngest grandsons 3rd birthday! Kaleb is Matthew and Sarah's son. Kaleb is a sweet boy and has brought much joy to our family! Kaleb is definitely all boy!! He loves trucks, cars, and trains! He loves to play outside and get dirty! Kaleb is also a very loving little boy, he loves to cuddle and watch TV, he will even share his kisses (most days)!

We love you Kaleb and our prayer is that God will continue to bless your life and that you will grow in wisdom and knowledge and that one day you will accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord and that you will spend your life serving Him!

Mimi, Granddaddy and Aunt Chase wish we could be in North Carolina to help you celebrate your day, however we hope you have a day that is just as special as you are to us!!

Newnan High Marching Cats!

Last Friday, August 27, 2010 was Chase's first performance ever as a member of the Newnan High Marching Cats! Chase is so excited to be a member of the Colorguard! She is having a great time, and she is really good! They all did a super job at Newnan's First game on Friday! I snapped a few pics and we have some video, unfortunately I still haven't learned how to upload a video on here, if I can figure it out I will get some of the show on here! Thanks to everyone who has been such an encouragement to Chase, this is just her Freshman year, so we have several more years of band camp, practices, football games, and competitions to go! We are just so proud of Chase for getting involved and really trying to make the most of her time in high school! You did an Awesome job Friday night Chase! Dad, Brian and I were all so filled with pride as we watched the show, you have worked so hard this summer and it really shows, you were GREAT!!

Chase also informed Tommy and I last night, that she has several choral auditions coming up (both are wonderful opportunies for her especially since she plans to major in music and plans to become a middle school chorus teacher), she also has plans to be part of the drama club at NHS as well!!

Falcon's Pre-Season Game!

About 2 weeks ago, Brian and Billy took Chase to a Falcon's Pre-Season game! Chase has never been to a NFL game, so she was super excited!

Thanks again Brian and Billy for taking Chase to her first NFL game, she had a great time!! :)

Myrtle Beach Mission Trip 2010

Chase and 8 other youth (and 3 adult leaders) from Luthersville Baptist Church went on a mission trip to Myrtle Beach July 22nd - 26th! I know what some people are thinking "a mission trip to the beach??" Yes!! They were on a mission trip! The Sea Palms in Myrtle Beach opens it's resort to youth groups to come to SC and do outreach in the community! Part of our youth went to a Community Soup Kitchen to feed the homeless, while the others went to a children's home to spend some time with the kids, they played soccer and just spent the afternoon bonding with the kids at the home! All of them went to a boys home that evening ordered pizza for the boys and again spent time talking with them, playing some foosball, and just engaging with the boys and learning to reach out and share their faith...That morning Chase had gone to the soup kitchen, she was really touched by the work there...I have a feeling she is going to be taking Tommy and I to some local soup kitchens to help! :) She was very saddened by the boys home! Chase expressed to me that even though the boys had a foosball table and an Xbox and Wii and all the material things that teenagers enjoy...she felt a sadness there...She and the others were especially touched by one young man, they went back later and took him a fishing pole! (a wonderful experience for our youth and youth leaders alike)

On Saturday Morning the youth took to the beach and passed out lemonade and frisbees to the tourists and were encourage to share the love of Christ! Then Saturday afternoon the youth were treated to a few hours at a local Water park for some fun!

Each morning the kids joined with other youth that were there as well for bible study and worship! Our Student Pastor Adam hoped this trip would be a time for the youth to bond with him, bond with each other, and also grow spiritually...I can't speak for the whole group, but I know Chase came home with a stronger desire to reach out to her community with the love of Christ!

My WhirlWind Trip to Wake Forest!!

Last week I got the opportunity to go to Wake Forest with my friend Michelle, she was going to Louisburg for 3 days and didn't want to drive by herself, so of course I jumped at the chance to not only get to take a road trip with my BFF, but to see some dear friends in Wake Forest for a few days! As a blogger (if I can really call myself a blogger, I used to be better, but I have gotten very slack) Anyway, as a blogger, I know I should have taken more pictures, but I was just so excited to see everyone and to talk and catch up, that I did a horrible job of taking pictures!! I will share with you the ones I did take though!

Michelle and I had a great time on our road trip, it was nice to be able to talk and catch up with each other, the 8 hr drive seemed like no time at all!! Sorry no pics

While in Wake Forest, I was able to have lunch with my dear friend Saemica...We picked up like no time had gone by since we had seen one another at all! :) Thanks for lunch Saemica...I can't wait to do it again soon! I also got to see some of our neighbors from the seminary...Grayson, Kristle and their two kids Rachael and Seth! I had such a great time catching up with them, and they treated me to dinner, we couldn't resist...we went to Tommy's favorite Mexican restaurant! Las Margaritas in downtown Wake Forest :)

My good friend Linda Taylor and her family so graciously allowed me to stay with them both nights I was in town in their beautiful new home! I didn't get a picture of the Taylor's, but I did get one of their house...Thanks again Linda, Dave, Brittmarie, and Kyle I really appreciate you letting me invade your home and family time...It was really a blessing to have a place to stay and to see you all again! Next time Brittmarie...I promise to bring Chase with me! :)

On Thursday, Linda, Brittmarie, and I went to breakfast, then I rode around Wake Forest alittle bit just enjoying being back...I had lunch on Thursday with my very dear friend Tara Dew, she has been such a wonderful friend and a huge encouragement to me as our family has begun our journey into full time ministry, the Lord most certainly sent Tara into my life exactly when I needed a friend! I had such a wonderful visit with Tara, we spent time talking about ministry and bouncing ideas off each other, and I had a great time being able to hold her precious new babies! It took a little while for the Nats to warm up to me, but it wasn't long before they were chatting up a storm with me...they have gotten so big and they are both as precious as ever!

After my visit with the Dews I headed over to Isabelle's house...Isabelle is the precious baby girl that I watched the last 10 months we lived in Wake Forest...We all miss her and her family terribly...She is such a joy and I enjoyed every minute of having her in our home! I hope to continue to be part of her life, even if it's a long distance relationship!! :) Isabelle has grown so much since we have been gone, she talks so well, and is such a sweet little girl, that baby that I started watching is gone and this precious little girl greeted me with a big hug!

While I was visiting with Isabelle and her family, there was a terrible storm, so I stayed a little longer than I probably should have (hopefully I didn't wear out my welcome lol!) I ended up getting to my friends the Brown's alittle late that night, so Ethan and Elizabeth were already in bed, but Nicholas stayed up to see me and I got to visit with Julie, unfortunately Daniel had left that afternoon on a Mission Trip!

Michelle and I left pretty early on Friday morning...but it was a great trip! I got to see alot of my friends that I have missed so much since being back in GA and I got to take a fun road trip with my BFF!

Chase's First Day of High School

Tommy and I still can't believe our baby girl started high school today! We are so proud of Chase and all of her accomplishments! Chase continually surpasses our expectations! She has become this wonderful young woman right before our eyes...We count it a privilege to be her parents! Chase loves the Lord, she loves her family, and her friends, she loves school and learning, she loves to sing and is very excited about chorus this year (as a sidenote we just found out Chase's chorus teacher this year was also Matthew's high school chorus teacher!) Chase also has a new passion for Marching Band, (which of course her brothers love, since they all 3 were in the Marching Band at their high schools, especially Matthew, he would still be in band if he could!! LOL!) Chase is a member of the Colorguard, and she loves it!! Chase is really getting involved in school activities and making the most of her high school experience...Tommy and I could go on and on about how proud we are...instead I will leave you with a few pictures from this morning before school!! :)

I have made a sign every year since Chase started Preschool - stating the school year, the school, the city, and the date that school started...I started this just to mark the occasion in a picture, but it has turned into a tradition that Chase looks forward to as much as I do!

Another tradition we started years ago that we still continue is going to Waffle House the First/and Last day of school every year...It means getting up alittle earlier, but it's a good time for the 3 of us!
